March 30th – Easter Eggstravaganza

The annual Parks & Recreation Easter Eggstravaganza was held at Koko Head District Park on Saturday, March 30 from 8:00a to 11:00a. Lions Jeanne Alices, Joni Fukuji, Marty Jorgensen, Marja Leivo, Susan Uehara, Allen Umeda, Kerry Yoon, and Ellsworth Fujii and CISs Herb (Joni) and Lyn (Rick) assisted with registration and distribution of gift bags to each participating child at the end of the egg hunt. There were only 5 Lions signed up (2 cancelled) but after sending an email asking for volunteers, 5 came to assist…When There’s a Need, There’s a Lion!!!

This year, there were more than 500 children registered, in addition to those who came and registered that day. There were games, popcorn & shaved ice, and face-painting stations to entertain the children before the egg hunt began. The Easter egg hunt, by age group (4), was held on the baseball field. Three eggs for each age group contained a grand prize ticket and those children were awarded an Easter basket. Great job by the Hawaii Kai Lions team on helping the Parks & Rec have a successful Easter Eggstravaganza!
