Hawaii Kai Lions District 50 - Club Number 14324

April 2016 President’s Message

Published by Webmaster on

Aloha Lions, CIS and friends of Hawaii Kai Lions!

Spring has sprung and the hills are alive with the sound of the Lion’s roar! Great times were had by all at the UH Wahine basketball game, Koko Head Keiki Karnival, and Koko Head Parks & Recreation Easter Egg Hunt! Not to mention participating in the Drowning Prevention Talk Story and construction of the Nagoya-Joto Lions Library Display case.

It is really wonderful to know that the Hawaii Kai Lions stand ready to help others. A great example came a couple of weeks ago, when a last minute plea was made to the District clubs to help the Moanalua Lions by providing PlusOptix vision screening equipment. Our club rose to the occasion and with the coordination by Lion Cynthia Chun, we not only provided our machine, but a few necessary volunteers to operate it. It was a record-setting vision screening for the District, with 6 PlusOptix units and about 400 students!

Thanks to the chairman of this year’s Nominating Committee, Lion IPP Peggy Oyama, the Board and Officers slate for the 2016-2017 term has been filled. Our election will be during our April 7 meeting, with our official installation of the Board at our 43rd Anniversary Charter Night Banquet on April 22, 2016. Yes, a great future leadership team will be in place for our club going into the next year!

Besides our Charter Night celebration and the Nagoya-Joto Lions gift presentation to the Hawaii Kai Library, in April we will be volunteering at the 27th Annual Food Bank drive. As the saying goes, April showers bring May flowers! What does May flowers bring? No, not the pilgrims, but the District 50 Convention! Remember, “We Serve”!

Aloha,

Lion David Iwana, President
