Hawaii Kai Lions District 50 - Club Number 14324

November 2016 President’s Message

Lions, CISs and friends,

Recently we had several District 50 projects. I would like to thank Lion Peggy Oyama for attending the Going Green Recycle Project and Lion Ron Goong for participating in the District Wide Safe Sidewalk event. Mahalo to Lion Ralph Nakamura and Lion Dr. Russell Imanaka for sharing their expertise at the Kaiser High School Career Fair event. These Lions answered the call from Principal Justin Mew of Kaiser High School when he sent out a request for people that could share their experiences in different areas in the work force.

Thank you Lion Cynthia Chun, head of our vision and hearing screenings as we are about to close our vision and hearing screening projects for the year. To the many Lions who helped multiple times at the various sites, the screenings went much faster with the large turnout at each event thank you. Our working relationship with the zone clubs, Kaimuki and Koko Head Lions clubs, made the projects much easier to handle.

The Hawaii Kai Holiday Parade is one of the major projects our club coordinates. We need the efforts of the whole club. The parade will occur on Saturday, November 26, 2016. Chair Lion Ken Nishibun and others have been working on this for several months and will update the club on the first meeting in November and finalize the assignments on the second meeting in November. Let us support Lion Ken as this event is for our community and one that the Hawaii Kai community really enjoys.

Finally, as citizens of this community it is your right to vote. You have heard much rhetoric this election cycle, so go out and make your vote count.

Let us remain involved and focused as we keep the Hawaii Kai Lions Club as one of the best in Hawaii. Keep up the good work.

Aloha

Lion Roy Aoki

2016-2017 President
