June 2016 President’s Message

Published by Webmaster on

Aloha Lions, CIS and friends of Hawaii Kai Lions!

This is it! Our leadership, membership and fiscal year will end on June 30, 2016, and what a great year we had and it still is not over yet! We have just a few more projects and events in June, with the highlight being our marquis project, the infamous Father’s Day Pancake Breakfast.

Back by popular demand was our Sashimi and Bar-B-Que Night at Lion Peggy Oyama and Loyal Mehrhoff’s house. All of our members and Companions in Service enjoyed the delicious food and fellowship. We also included inducting our newest member, Lion Paula Chow!

At the Kaiser High School graduation ceremony night, I had the honor of being invited to represent the Hawaii Kai Lions and sit with the Kaiser Complex schools principals and other dignitaries. It was a most moving and gratifying experience! It was wonderful to witness the recognition of the achievements of the students, as well as learning of their ambitious future goals. Several of our very own Leo Club seniors were recognized!

This past year, I feel our club has experienced a renewed enthusiasm for Lionism. We had wonderful club and community events, all with great participation by our Lions and CIS. I’m sure next year’s board will improve on this and our club will continue to thrive in both involvement and membership.

It has been my honor to serve as your president. It has been a most enjoyable and rewarding experience that I have had in recent years. Of course this was because of the club member’s fantastic support and the board’s guidance through the year. This summer maybe warm, but not as smokin’ hot as the Hawaii Kai Lions! Be safe, have fun and remember to serve!

Aloha,

Lion David Iwana, President
